    Smile Rindala-the lebanese dance storm

Watching Carovanīs channel with newly uploaded clips of her I decided to see if there already was a fan thread about her here, and there wasnīt-
    so now Iīm starting one!

I have written to contacts in Lebanon to ask about her career, who she trained with, what sheīs doing now etc and will post here when/if I get some information.

Rindalaīs dancing persona was never about the coy&sexy, but the most acrobatic/wild seen ever, impatiently waving her time though taximīs to get to the fast parts

While not all might "feel"her interpretation of the music in her dance(especially for those doing egyptian)to me she was very musical never missing an accent.

She dance choreographed in every clip Iīve seen, almost no improv, knowing every note and bar of the music, feeling the singers phrasing.

Her(or her advisers) music choices were always wonderful!
    The CD "Rindala-A Dance Storm"is a great buy,with a timeless "lebanese night club live"feeling.

Discovered now she must have been a fan of Mona Said, using almost her exact choreo to Raks Jamila but doing it "Rindala-style":

Full routine to dabke songs w. cane, taksim and drum solo:

One of the most beautiful music ever IMO:
    "Shar El Asal"?
Anyone have any info where I can find it in different version in any quality?(the part between 5.04-6.00 is so lovely it makes me tear up)

Dancing to music from her CD(Abdel Halimīs andalusian flavored Jabbar)

Show to music featuring the same vocalist and music as her CD(exept Mawoud)Tahtil Shibbak:

    Daret el Ayam:

I really like her. :) Do you have a link to the Mona Said clip for comparison/contrast?

The first clip I ever saw of Rindala was that first one in the green when she danced to Mona's choreography. I noticed it straight off the bat. I do wonder what the real name of that song is. I think Suhaila and Jamila just named it Raks Jamila because they didn't know.

I think Rindala is fabulous. I love her energy. I don't know why she isn't as well known as some of the others.

Shar al Asal. I know that song! I still cringe when I think about it!. I have a video of me performing to it in 1992. In those days I was dancing in the Greek and Lebanese clubs and used to dancing a fast pace. I was still learning Arabic style. My teacher put on a student showcase featuring her advanced level and pro students. I wanted to dance to something fun and wild. She insisted I dance to this song to show of some dance technique. I thought it was my most boring, awful performance ever. I just finished watching the video. My dancing isn't really as bad as I remember it except for a few goofy moves. Technique for the most part is okay. But I still count it as one of my most boring shows. The original was a more sedate pace than the Rindala version.

I had the music on cassette. Hopefully, if someone can read Arabic this can help you track down the song:

It says Raqs Sharqi - Nagwa Fouad '82 - "Honeymoon".
Honeymoon is shar al assal in Arabic.

I liked the first clip of her but got bored with the rest..

She has a bit too much energy for my tastes...I would personally rather watch Mona.

I am still not sure about Lebanese style dancing.. it reminds me of Turkish just a bit too much and i am not overly fond of that for the same energetic reasons.

    Re: Rindala-the lebanese dance storm

I think itīs especially true for those who prefer egyptian style to not be so fond of Rindalaīs dance.Of course thereīs not *one*singular lebanese style, just like thereīs not one egyptian.Generally speaking,an egyptian dancer would maybe roll her shoulders instead of doing snake arms (with arms only engaged),and have more shifts between extrovert/introvert than Rindala-who was extrovert all the way except when doing long spins.

Anyway, she was quite influential-no one else reached her levels of raw energy!

It's nice to see the same choreo by these two dancers, their unique style. Mona el Said is very elegant; Rindala doesn't hold back. I've seen the video of Rindala's assay performance before and was amazed.

I just accidentally found another version of this song. It's on a cd by Hamouda Ali called the Queen of the Nile. It's on track 2 A Beautiful Evening.
