Thread: A special April Fool's Day Class

I just realized that the final night of my 7-week session falls on April 1. That's right, April Fool's Day.

I must do something special to make this class memorable. I think making my students dance to the song The Irish Belly Dancer would qualify. I wonder if I can find my shamrock bedleh to wear to class...

I have never heard this song. What does it sound like...any clips of it?

Dear lord, I'd better find a copy of it then, as a Boston belly dancer with a St. Patrick's Day schtick...

OH goody! I'm not the only one teaching on April Fools Day. I have an overwheling urge to find some silly music for the beginners classes that night. Goodness knows they listen to my bad jokes in class often enough, I'm sure they are expecting something silly from me...LOL!

I'm going to class with a cast on my foot...BWAHAHAHAHA...

I did something really mean to my teen class last night for April Fool's Day. I've told them the horror story of my teacher changing everything from music to choreo and costuming my second year dancing. She did 8 weeks before the big student show. Last night, I told each of my girls, one at a time, that I was changing everything starting with the music. Reactions ranged from one girl stoically accepting it to the final girl throwing half her sugar cookie at me (which I caught and ate). I ended telling each of them and getting their reaction by asking what "today's" date is and when all was said and done, we all had a good laugh.



But, I also pranked my teacher years ago on April Fools Day. We had been discussing costuming and I told her I had mine done and would bring it to the next class (April 1st). I wore see through harem pants, a ratty nasty t-shirt, ratted my hair, and blacked out a front tooth. I will never forget the look on her face when I told her I was wearing that for show. She was so sweet, trying to find a way to tactfully tell me there was no way on earth she was going to let me go on stage looking like that. I stepped over to my purse and took out my checkbook and asked her very seriously what the date was. She laughed and called me a bad word and we've been friends ever since.
