Ohhh I love what he is doing costume wise. That's very nice! He's flexible too. I'm not sure I like all the contortionist stuff (but can he do it on pointe on stilts with giant gold wings?), but I liked his movements.

I couldn't watch the whole thing. He's movements were great, but he danced all of what I watched with this chest over his toes and his pelvic not tucked under him which gave him an huge sway in his lower back. It hurt my back watching him dance like that. I could only focus on his posture. He's definitely a Diva.

I so much more enjoy watching someone like Tarik el Sultan, or Tito or Jim Boz dance. I just can't hack the half-dressed, sweaty, glitter look.
I know I'll probably be taking some heat over that comment, but I just don't like it when men look greasy, or slippery.
I would have been able to appreciate his dancing much more, if I could have gotten past the presentation.

I couldn't get past the oiled, sparkley chest. It was giving me the jeebies.
On another note, I can't stand when male dancers wear everything in a full costume EXCEPT a bra. I have to occasionally remind myself that this is not a really flat-chested, bare-breasted female dancing, that it's a guy instead. It just doesn't...look....quite....right.

That's kind of wierd, not really dancing. Just showing off all the unusual movements and tricks he knows how to do. It reminded me alot of this girl:

Don't like it. Loved the mayas and hip drops though!!! Shiny, greased body is a total put off for me. He has no emotion in the face... a total body mind disconnection!!! His dance is like, "see what I can do with my body!!!"
Tito for me is the best male dancer!!!
Cheers

I watched this clip right after the jim carey one, and at around after 3.5 mins in, when he pulls his arm, I expected it to pop right of of the socket!
This guy has clearly trained very hard, but I agree he is more cirque du soliel than belly dance, though he's doing Turkish right? I'm not too familiar with that, and it does seem to involve more "tricks"...

I'm not hung up on the greasy or the half costuming. I love me some queens!
That range of motion though! Absolutely amazing. Back? What back? I don't believe that man had a spine! I thought he was awesome! Amazing Mayas! And such contolled spins. He didn't wobble at all and his spotting was straight on!

Not a comfortable look but I have to say I thought he was amazing! Yes an element of the circus but very skilful and entertaining.

Ick! While I'm impressed with his muscle control and flexibility, I didn't like it overall. The grossest parts for me were the arm thing already mentioned and the rib cage alternation at around five minutes. (shudders)

Something (and I can't quite put it in words) that is essential to belly dance was not there. As others said - I don't think I saw dance, it was more a very skillyfully executed circus act - he can move, and I respect that, it just does not appeal to me at all, and it is not quite what I expect from belly dance; to the degree that he calls it belly dance, it's euw; to the degree it is some sort of novelty act - not my cuppa, but impressive movement. And, oiled naked torsos - that's what I expect from a pleasure boy, but not from a belly dancer.

I really dislike the girly emaciated boy look so that's a stumbling block, but I liked a lot of what he was doing with the music (aside from circus aspects). Even though he wasn't putting any emotion into it, I thought he had a good feel for it.
In fact, could be that if he was doing all the drama emotion stuff it would become totally campy.
That belt he's wearing is gorgeous - I didn't feel like he was trying to play dress up in girl BD costumes even if it was the dreaded no shirt look.

wow, he does have great control over his body BUT he will have lower back problems if he doesn't already. How could he dance with his but stuck out and not have lower back problems?

Aiiiiaiaiaiai I see I`m not the only one who ended up with backpain after watching this ..c:: Oh my spiiine. Can someone please tell this guy to tuck in his pelvis! :Aconfused:
I don`t see dance either. My teacher always says "Anyone can learn to move their hip up and down but that doesn`t necessarily mean they can DANCE", I think this one is a good example.

Hmm... I was always taught that dance is an art. And like any other art it is open to all sort of experimentation and interpretation. This is just *HIS* interpretation of bellydance.

I think that interpretation is fine, however there are some basic rules that apply to bellydance universally. One of them is correct posture.
I can do my own artistic interpretation of ballet for example. Doesn't mean I know ANYTHING about ballet or correct ballet technique though. And I certainly wouldn't fool those who DO know.

Whoa...
This girl took me right back to that scene from the Exorcist. Anyone else have that flashback? ..c::
This guy has some skill...it seems like he is still growing into his art, and figuring out his own style. But his BACK! Someone needs to put a ruler up his spine for a while! It's true that you can get bigger, more dramatic movements when you thrust so far backwards...but jeez, that's GOTTA hurt! Not a good idea.
I actually like his costume. The only thing I think he could add would be a small vest, worn open at the front, just to get a bit of torso coverage.

I actually saw this dude dancing back in June when I went to Turkey... and yes he is covered in glitter, but I think it is because the place where he is dancing is very touristy and his performance was probably about 30 mins without leaving the stage, so i think they would rather have seen glitter than buckets of obvious sweat...
Circus like parts aside, i thought he was much better in person than this clip shows, he did actually smile a lot more than it appears, and once the audience took their jaws off the floor they all agreed he was better than most of the woman that night...
