Sunday night I taught my last class at a studio I've been with for four years. I'm leaving that studio for many reasons, none of them having to do with the studio or its management... in other words, on good terms. I've gotten many "we'll miss you's" and such from the students and staff there.
The night of my last class, one student of mine brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers to thank me for the instruction and to wish me luck in my future endeavors. I was so touched I nearly cried.
Through all the discussions we have about pain in the butt students and situations, I thought it would be nice to put out there that we all have students who really do appreciate what we do because ladies (and gentlemen), we do have the power to positively affect the lives of others.
A heartfelt "thank you" from a student is all it takes to make dealing with the hard-to-deal-with seem like not such a major thing after all.

Re: A warm fuzzy moment
At the end of a recent 7-week session, one of my students coordinated a "thank you" card which they presented to me the final night of class. I was very touched by some of the lovely things they wrote!

Oh, how lovely!
I do get bogged down with complaining about students and the hassles of teaching from time to time, but it's moments like the above that remind me why we love what we do.

Re: A warm fuzzy moment
Thank you for sharing that Mihri!! I am sure it was a tough moment for you, and it's always nice to be reminded that there's a lot of good that goes with the yucky things---makes them look not so bad after all.
I don't doubt you made a huge impact on your students---and will continue to no matter where they are (can I insert a *lucky us out here* now?).w.:
Everyone needs a moment like you had once and a while---thanks for the reminder!
