Need Help..Backbend with a veil!! Help!!
I am doing my own choreography and its awesome except for a 6 count where I am in a backbend,m:: I need to do the backbend with a veil in my hands as I will get up from backbend and then throw the veil..Dramatic..I do not want to take the backbend out but would love any ideas of what to do with my hands with the veil when I am bent all the way back..Hope I even explained it correctly..Everyone is saying well take out the backbend..BUT I dont want to ..c::

I'm not a pro.
Could you 'pose' with the veil?
How do you plan on holding your arms, while bending back?
If you bend back while holding the veil like you are in your avatar, then maybe bring one end of the veil to your cheek, make sure your hand pose is pretty while holding the veil....and just pause the pose (Vogue!), then bring yourself back up.Last edited by gothique; 09-15-2008 at 10:16 AM.

Re: Need Help..Backbend with a veil!! Help!!
How deep is the backbend and which direction will it be in?
If it's not a humungously deep one, and you're sideways, if you have to have the veil behind you you could do what gothique suggests, or just let it trail, or conversely wrap your arms around yourself (like hugging yourself) so that the veil cocoons you.
Otherwise, my instinct would be to get the veil in front of me and allow it to drape over my body, or flick it up into a butterfly so it rests across my collarbone.

if its a deep back bend how about dropping (statically placing) the veil before hand in your chorography, then do a back bend to pick it up, and throw it ? double dramatic!

Re: Need Help..Backbend with a veil!! Help!!
Hmmm thanks so much for all the great suggestions
I am bending back and my arms would be in front of me..I was originally going to do up & down snake arms Like over my stomache but the veil looked so bad..Took away from everything..Obviously my back is to the audience..I am so perplexed..

Instead of snake arms can you just drag the veil up your body and then flip it over your head and to your back as you come up & out of the back bend? Hope this makes sense.

Could you do the snake arms with arms outwards to the sides (parallel to the floor), instead of up and down above you?
Last edited by gothique; 09-15-2008 at 10:18 AM. Reason: parallel hope I spelled it correctly

I don't know if it would fit with your music or within the 6 count, but in Petite Jamilla's double veil performance on BDSS Live in Paris, she does a back bend while swirling the veil above her in a figure 8 (about 1:00-1:07). I've only seen it from the side, but I'm sure it would be just as spectacular viewed from behind you.
