Zahra Zuhair Certification Program coming soon

    People,

This is really exciting....ZZ sent out an email today with a note that she will be starting a certification program soon.

This is great news to me because a) we don't have that kind of thing in L.A. surprisingly (even San Diego has a program! - waving at Patrisha and David).

I don't think it will get underway for a few months because she is traveling all over the place through the summer...but still.

    Stay tuned.

Depending on how it's structured, I'll definitely do it. That is - if it is similar to the Suhaila method with levels and not just for dancers who are already at a pro/semi-pro level.

I know there are mixed feelings about certification programs, but I think it's a good way to up the level and standard of dancing in whatever area it's happening in.

Wow, this sounds so cool! I would like to be certified, it seems to give an amount of credibility to our art form.

Hi Dani, Thanks for the news, she is definately one of the best. IN fact, we are bringing her to SD for David's Summer Intensive in July.

It is as you say, mixed feelings about the cerification thing but some people
are really worth the extensive studies it takes to be certified by them.
(that you actually DID study with them and not just take one workshop here and there)
We just graduated the first Diploma Program students from first year at the EDA!
It is exciting to see the dedication and the new dancers coming up that really want to do something with their dance and represent it as well as they can. Go Zarah, Go David!

While ZZ is not one of my favorite dancers (don't get me wrong, she is great, just as stated, not one of my favs) I think a certification program with a known teacher / dancer does, indeed, lend legitamacy to the art form. Especially if you intend to teach. I will look forward to seeing how this develops.

Says she who is getting her MFA in order to assure her Coaching clients that she has a background in transformational thought and practice. . . Not that those retty certificates and thousands of hours of training as a Coach mean anything. . .

I agree Patrisha - it's not everyone that would be worth the certification effort but Zahra is. She is respected by everyone and if you pass her test, I suspect you'd have some credibility as a dancer. Of course - we'll have to see how her program works, but I'm excited about it. I do better in programs with goals - need the structure. Which is one reason I admire what you and David are doing with EDA.
