    CONGRATS to Lisa Zahiya in Asheville

    . . . for bringing in Ava Fleming for an OUTSTANDING workshop/show weekend. I learned quite a lot, saw the AMAZING show and my husband and I both had a TERRIFIC time. We'd never been to Asheville before, but would definitely go again. Especially for Lisa's upcoming workshop featuring Ashara! Is that in February, 2009?

    The show was a real treat. Along with great bellydance, there was hoop dancing, jazz fusion (one to a song by Johnny Cash, no less!), samba, and even an aerial act that was jaw-dropping. Lisa's Rominy Hip-Hop fusion was the BOMB! And then of course, there was AVA!!!! Her first number was unbelievable. The show was in a nightclub that had different levels of stages throughout the room. Imagine Ava Fleming, not only dancing in her inimitable way, but LEAPING from platform to platform while performing!!! The crowd was WOWed, to say the least! Her second number was a passionate Flamenco/bellydance fusion to Roxanne from the movie "Moulin Rouge." Ava has a phenomenal stage presence - not to mention abs to die for!

    Lisa, I truly enjoyed my entire weekend in Asheville, thanks to you and your people! Thanks muchly and I hope you had a Happy Birthday.

    Scarab Beetle? :-) I remember you from the weekend! You have the lovely short red hair, and the great vivacious personality! I second your congrats to Lisa. I had a fantastic time, and really enjoyed everything.

    I'm Sonja. I was the pink girl in the show. I think I talked to you a bit during the workshop, but i'm shy in crowds, so probably didnt' talk a whole lot. :-)

    When Ava came to Atlanta she did the Roxanne piece...I cried it was so beautiful. Happy Birthday Lisa and hope to see you soon when I get back into the country!

    Yup, I'm the beetle! And yes, I remember you! LOVED the pink - you look really good in that color! I'm lucky to remember people from workshops - my brain is going a mile a minute and I'm lucky to even remember the CHOREOGRAPHY...c:: Ava has a way of teaching things that make you remember, though. I'll probably never hear the name "Princess Jasmine" without remembering the "airy fairy am cab" steps and the name "Magda" will always make me remember that earthy swinging hip step! And I really liked her tribal version of Magda.

    Will you be going to the Ashara workshop as well? I had such a good time and learned so much this past weekend that I think I'll try Asheville again in February. Hope to see you there!

    Another funny thing about my stage name - once people learn that Zyzzyva means "beetle," they put it together with my last name, which is Bailey, so I become "Beetle Bailey!",r:;

    I cried too. Only time I've ever cried watching someone dance.
