    Teacher in Scotland

Hello, does anybody know of a teacher I could take private lessons with in Scotland who does Egyptian style? There just seems to be "fun" style classes near where I live and while I am quite happy to attend these I'm also looking for more concentrated "serious" learning. I danced "semi-professionally" in the past but am returning after a five year break (ouch ouch ouch, what the H**L has happened to my hips!)..g.:

How close are you to Glasgow? Jen (Bhuz's Wigglewiz) and, I think, Zafira (sp?) are in Glasgow, and VERY Egyptian style.

Jen doesn't teach regularly, but has been known to take on a private student. Not sure about Zaf.

Zaf is now in London. But Caroline (bellydancingcaroline here on bhuz) is in Edinburgh. I believe that Lorna Gow is also in Edinburgh. Lorna splits her time between Scotland and Cairo. BellyLorna

    Hope that helps.

Quite a few Scottish teachers are members of NADA

Check out their website - you can search by location or by teacher name.

Hi - I'm in Scotland but I don't do private lessons. I'm currently teaching between 3 and 4 hours a week at Dancebase in Edinburgh. There are a whole bunch'o'teachers that do Egyptian Style around here email me and I can give you more contact information for them.

Ah, Caroline -- your location doesn't show up under your avatar, that's my excuse for not realizing you were in Scotland!

How come some peoples' locations show up and others don't, I wonder?

Also, what we call Egyptian Style now is perhaps different to what was called Egyptian Style 6 years ago.

The sort of Egyptian style I do, and others that I would recommend is inspired by the current and past teachers and dancers of Egypt such as Aida Noor, Lubna Emam, Raquia Hassan, Randa Kamel, Samia Gamal, Fifi Abdu etc.
