    Lots of great recommendations here:

Also some exciting video clips of Romani dancers doing 9/8s here
    http://www.bhuz.com/forum/belly-danc...ant-clips.html

And a whole confusing discussion about what Karsilama is and isn't (apparently only we Americans/Westerners use that word to describe the rhythm? Is it an American Cabaret thing?) is here:

I would suggest Dalia Carella's CD "Shuvani". There is a karsilama drum solo and two other songs with a karsilama rhythm. Those 2 songs are kind of fast though.

Djinn, the Middle East Side cd = CD baby has it and Amazon. I haven't bought the cd for myself yet, for I have about 150 cds and it is getting so...costly at 15.00 a pop! I love the different kashlimar music on it.

I loooove that CD! Gypsy Fire is great, too, and has at least two songs that have a 9/8 rhythm. But they are also both pretty fast. Wonderful spirit though!

When I teach 9/8 finger cymbal patters, I start my students out using Mary Ellen Donald's Practice Rhythm CD and Jazayer's Eternal Rhythms CD. Neither is inspiring in terms of listening, but they are both *great* for long, steady rhythms that you can develop consistent cymbals to. I use both in class for cymbal practice often, as they have lots of other rhythms that serve the same purpose.

The song Hoplada (on one of Ozel's CD's)

    The song Marinella
