Thread: I can actually move my feet while playing zils!

I posted a thread awhile back griping about not being able to play a rhythm and move my feet at the same time. Got some help, (thanks Tink) and now I am taking baby steps (literally) but at least learning!! Now I think it's rather fun.

Excellent! You are doing yourself such a huge favor by starting zilling with movement early on. If there's one thing I could go back and change about how my dance journey unfolded, it would be that. Go you!

What kinda foot movement? Basic Egyptians are really good to tie in foot, hips and hands together while doing a basic slow "gallop" with the zills..hip up and the 3 of a slow zill 123 pattern are just naturals together. Keep up the good work!

Just getting my hands to repeat a gallop pattern for more than a couple of 8 counts was so hard for me . . . but now I do workshops on zilling!

It Is So Cool to dance and play at the same time -- you're gonna love it even more!

I am just following an instructional vid that Tink made and so far I am just doing kind of a cross over walk for 4 steps with a figure 8 at each end of the walk. Is that what you are asking Anala?

Hubby has asked me on many occasions to post my zill method on youtube. There are many dancers who have had the same experience I had when it came to learning how to play them. It sounds like this, aaaargh!

After reading HookedNovice's response he is convinced it should be done. I will be receiving a digital recorder for Christmas & hopefully have it on youtube before the end of January. It will be a nice contribution for 2009. Promise to post the link when it is done.
