Thread: Colleges that teach Zills classes?

Does any one know of any Colleges that teach a stand alone class in finger cymbals (Zills/Sagat)? Besides Lake Tahoe, because I know they do. Thanks.

That would be interesting. I wonder if there are any in Oregon?

I taught one at Lake Tahoe Comm. College as a special topic and now we are going to offer it as a permanant class. I think you can spend a whole quarter on this subject and still not cover it all. Just looking for other Colleges that are offering it.

I'd check the Ethnomusicology department at UCLA, they have a Near Eastern performance ensemble, and they may have offered a class on sagat?

Hey, wanna do that same class somewhere in Pittsburgh - I'd enroll ;-) (And be the pain-in-the-bum student.)

So is that in the Dance department or the Music department?

I taught it through the dance department. Could be in music dept. if you don't incorporate dance movement. I am teaching movement with the Sagat playing. This is were the challenge is for most people.
