Thread: Looking for U.S. or Canada Workshops in Summer 2009

Hello,

My friend Serene and I are very sad Folk Tours U.S.A. is not happening this Memorial Day weekend due to venue scheduling issues.

We had so much fun last year; we'd really like to keep the momentum going...can folks recommend other Summer 2009 weekend workshops that might have a similar feel to Folk Tours?

Any suggestions are most welcome.

TribOriginal is a wonderful event and a camp, like Folk Tours was. I'm also sad to see Folk Tours canceled this year. I've been going for the last four years and had the honor of teaching last year!

Although it's not a camp, my troupe's event, Tribal Revolution has a very community feel and is all held at one hotel. Dates are June 19-21. Feel free to check out the website at Tribal Revolution

We'll have workshop descriptions and registration up early in 2009, but if you have any questions, just let me know!!

Oh.. .and Artemis is teaching at Tribal Revolution this year, so you'd still get her!!

Thanks for the TribOriginal Mentions. It's going to be a really great event this year. I'm seeing some inconsistencies with the dates posted here and just want to inform every one that the NEW dates are definitely October 8-11 2009. If possible could those be updated? TribO also has a NEW location this year that is gorgeous, check it out on the NEW site. Please spread the word about the NEWS and make sure you've got your calender marked correctly so we see you there.

Don't fret about all the change TribO is still four days of festivity set near beautiful Asheville, NC, in a camp-style environment. In addition to classes and shows, & offers cozy sleeping cabins, authentic and awesome world cuisine, extensive vending, children’s programming, a lake, hiking trails, and more!

I'm not sure what Folk Tours is like but the Bellydance Intensive in Vegas is AWESOME. All kinds of workshops & classes, different styles, and really wonderful people. It was one of my best weekends EVER. I hope to go back every year as soon as I'm able to (this year I'm due to give birth shortly before the event)...

Both Dalia Carella and Morocco have weeklongs in NYC.

That was a great weekend, I'm sad I'll miss it this year!! Good job on the demo video!!

Suhaila Salimpour will be in Greenville, SC for a 3 day intensive on Memorial Day Weekend. You could come to the workshop and hit the beach in Charleston afterwards to soak up the sun.

If you can attend just one, attend DetroitRaqs May 15-17 and here's why:

The difference with this bellydance convention is that Detroit has the highest Middle Eastern population in the U.S., the second largest in the world.
The dancers teaching here are the dancers who perform for these audiences. These are performing dancers who work up to 8 shows a week, for audiences who UNDERSTAND bellydance. It's the real deal, and egos begone!
