Zill pattern to Nassam Alayna El Hawa
I am set to dance to this song (live music) in the spring. I want to play finger cymbals to this piece. I think its a maksoum rhythm with baladi mixed. I don't know, I'm bad with some rhythms (possibly equally bad with the spelling ha-ha).
What zill pattern can I play to this music? I don't want to play a baladi rhythm and have some dancer in the audience think, "why the hell is she playing that rhythm when she should be playing so-and-so?"

Re: Zill pattern to Nassam Alayna El Hawa
Maybe you can get a recording by the musicians you will be dancing with, or email them and ask them about the rhythms. We play saiidi for the beginning of this tune. I usually play longa and 3,3,7, and 3,7,3, etc. for parts of it and follow the melody on other parts. It's a great song that has some nice accents and stops in it, so it's good to know where those are.
I think you can get our version of it on itunes. We just call it Nassam Alayna.
