I cannot find the original threat about this topic, but….
I am an instructor and dancer at Habeeba’s. The way it works is that Habeeba is our agent and does all the leg work to get the gigs -- i.e., the dancer does not work to get the paid jobs herself. Generally, the client is hiring the "studio" and requesting a "dancer" rather than a specific person. When a specific person is requested the structure is slightly different. Basically, the dancers work as a team to ensure all the gigs are covered. Habeeba sends multiple people to 1 job -- never does someone go alone -- and she researches the location, etc. to ensure it is a safe locale.
Also, before a dancer is ever sent out to dance she spends significant quality time with Habeeba for lessons in dancing for client requests, which is rather different from dancing at a festival as part of a troupe.
Lastly, for someone having never been an instructor for Habeeba’s studio it is easy to see how they could be confused by looking at what they perceive to be the process. There is an open door policy at Habeeba's. If ever there is a question, a need or a specific goal of a dancer then Habeeba is more than willing to sit down and discuss the matter with them. Habeeba is always very supportive of all her students, instructors and dancers.
