I'm in! This actually sounds as though the timing is perfect for my thesis. (I am studying Spiritual Psy., and part of my project is dancing in Cairo in June. ACK!!!! chances are, about the beginning of March, I will start dealing with all those weird insecurities about my ability to actually do this!

I just bought this book and workbook to give to my hubby ("Mr. Latifa") for Valentine's Day. He's a sculptor, jewelry artist etc etc. And what the heck, if he isn't interested in the book, I'll give it a try! ..l;,

I joined because I've had this book for ages and never got round to working with it. Looks an interesting group!

I read this book some time ago. I'm an artist, and I found the exercises in the book to be awesome for opening up creativity. Thing is, you have to stick with them - but if you do, it'll really open your mind up to your creative potential. I never thought of using for dance, but sure, that makes sense.

Sign me up! I love this book, and have recently been searching for more artistic, creative, and spiritual fulfillment in dance.

I am so glad that so many of you are excited to begin. I began reading it a short while ago and I was so amazed how the book was like a carbon copy of my thoughts and feelings about myself and about artists. I've only read through the first couple chapters and I was so excited about what I already learned I wanted to encourage others to experience this book too.

Don't forget to post an introduction about yourself on our tribe!

A few days before the first week of March I'll post our assignment for the first week. I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you and seeing how you use the tools in the book to help you grow as a dancer artist!

I just got my book in the mail yesterday, and I've been reading the introduction. I think this will be so fun!

I've been working with the book for a while now, I love it!

Has anyone else been a little uncomfortable with the way the author's definition of God permeates the material? I wish she'd used different phrasing because I have a strong knee-jerk reaction to people who say 'Don't you know God is this way and God does this?' It doesn't allow much room for people with different beliefs. But I'm trying to read around it in a softer way, sort of imagining words like 'fate' and 'energy' and 'the universe' in place of the constant God refrain. If I'd realized how... religious.. the book was going to be I probably wouldn't have bought it.

Other than that, it's opening me up in some new ways and I'm getting a lot out of it. I'm working at a slow pace, around a lot of turmoil in my life, so I'll probably not join the group but I wish I could!!!

That is precisely why I put a disclaimer on the tribe's description, because I know some folks are uncomfortable with the spiritual slant of the book. ..but it is subtitled " A Spiritual Path to Higher Creativity", so I'm hoping a lot of the interested folks will read that and decide for themselves.

I can understand how that must be for a person that practices forms of spirituality that are either polytheistic, pagan, or don't really believe in a "creator". Or for the non-spiritual or atheists.

Believe me... even for those of us that are monotheist, the book makes assumptions and declarations that aren't necessarily what I believe either.

Spirituality and religion is often so personal and it's hard for any one book to be exactly what any one person believes.

But if you are open-minded and willing to apply the information to your own belief system, I think just about anyone can benefit from the tools and info presented.

Are we supposed to read it before March 2nd or discuss and THEN read the book?

Obviously I've never been in a book club

The first assignment will begin March 2nd, which will include reading the intro chapters.

So, to answer your question, we won't be reading at all until it starts on March 2nd.

My troupe director and her business partner are celebrating their new studio opening with a hafla on March 21st. I bought each of them "The Artist's Way" as a studio-warming gift. I hope they get as much out of this FANTASTIC book as I did!

Yes, I totally agree! I'm enjoying the book immensely and have gotten such a lot out of it.

I'm giving this a whole lot of thought. Okay, I'll sign up. God knows I need some creative push right now. I downloaded the intro to this book about three months ago and the Morning Pages did help me with my writing. Let's see if it can motivate me in other areas. My problem is that I write for three hours in the morning so most of my creativity is emptied out into that activity. I'll talk more about it on Tribe.

Thanks for bringing this up...these are amazing books. They are actually requirement books to read (or at least Artist's Way is) in Suhaila Level II and beyond.

For those just hearing about it, most stores like Borders, Barnes and Noble, and Books-a-million usually stock "The Artist's Way", so you should be able to hunt a copy down if you are short on time.
