Thread: drum solo duo - a proud teacher presents:

these are Anadil and Nasreen, two of my advanced students.
well, teachers themselves now!

they are both on bhuz too, but mostly lurking

words cannot express how proud i am. i cannot believe how good this is. biased teacher, i know ..g.: no, it simply is damn good!

i'm please to say i had very little hand in this choreography, because of lack of time i didnt have time to rehearse with them really, apart from some general advice when they started work on this, so this is all THEIR stuff.

anyway, watch for yourself!

the footage is not of the best quality, and i'm sorrier and sorrier that we didnt have this show professionally filmed (but glad the 1500E that would have cost can go to a better cause, just because!)

i cant believe how often the word "cute" seems to come up though, hmm, something to ponder :-)

I read the term "cute" in a positive way, particularly referring to some of the interaction, for example, the way they held hands and did a quick turn at the end.

Fun to watch, they did a great job! It seems like a choreo that they could also perform individually now that they have it down. Enjoyed their choice of music also (can you share the titles?).

oh, i do think cute is good!!! its just not smething they particulary went for, i think... but it's an idea to explore...

the music is from shik shak shok, one of the drum solo's on that album

and by the way, they are both in bhuz swap meet costumes, bought from bhuzzers ages ago!

I believe it was designed to charm the audience. If that was not their intention then they should have left out the playfulness. As one of my belly dance friends would say gimmicks like the invisible strings attached to chest to make them go up and down in a puppet fashion. That is designed to charm...

i loved that gimmick...!

They did an excellent job (and they have a darn good teacher to boot!)

Fantastic! What an honor for you to see your students blossom in such a way. You are very right to be proud and they are very lucky to have you as a teacher, friend, and mentor. Kudos to you, Anadil and Nasreen!

I finally just had time to watch this - it's awesome! great staging, adorable moves, fabulous dynamic between the girls.
