    Private lesson with Yasmin

I am taking a private lesson with Yasmin. She said she does strictly Egyptian Cab. She also told us to come up with an idea of areas to have her teach. I'm not sure what the difference between Am Cab and Egyptian Cab is in this regards. We've already told her shimmies and quakes of course. Can anyone else give suggestions as to other things that we can ask to put into the lesson? It's a two hour private.

    Thanks.

Yasmin of DC? Lucky you! She rarely does those except for students who are already taking from her!
Ask her to break down basic moves and basic footwork of Egyptian style. You will find they differ a lot from Am Cab. Also ask her to show you hands/arms. Of course ask about her shimmies- she's got killer shimmies and breaks them down very well.
That will be MORE than enough material for 2 hours. It will serve to get you started down the path of understanding differences in the styles.

Heather and I are the ones that won the lessons from Lucy's benefit. :) we have finally gotten around to scheduling the lesson with her.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know that when she did the quake/shimmies at the benefit I almsot did a duck and cover (I'm a californian originally, we're trained for that since childhood. :) )

Oh lucky you! She's great and I agree with Samira.

Also, I find her lessons on spins and turning to be very helpful.

Ahhh, fabulous! That was such a great, feel good benefit.
With Yasmin you need to be prepared for honest feedback. It's not always easy to hear, but is the best learning tool.

This is a good thing. How can I learn if I'm not corrected? As long as it's correction, and not hurtful, I can take it. :)

Awesome! It's correction. She figures out what you're doing that's throwing off the right look AND provides you with the tools to do it right (that you then get to practice on your own).
