Studios and community centers

Just a quik question. I teach from a civic center in trussville alabama and was wondering what does it take to start a in home studio for private lessons and home rehersals. And what do studios charge and require to teach in the studio? Civic centers require insurance and city business lis. And for studios is it the same. Im thinking about expanding to different locations and taking my profession to a new level if possible. And would you consider it proper etiquette to teach in another teachers gen. City area?

Wow, I can't believe no one has replied to this! I don't know too much right now, but I know a little about home studios.
The approach you take depends on whether this is a business or not. Either way, you want to make sure you have the right kind of liability insurance (look for the sort of thing personal trainers use) for your home. That way, if someone trips on your front porch after a lesson, you are covered.
If you are looking to do this as a licensed business you will need to find out if your home is zoned for an in home business. It is possible to change from RES (residental) zoning to RES2 (or something, it's the zoning where you can have certain businesses like daycare) but you may need some kind of home inspection to ensure you have adequate space up and down stairs, overhead, etc in the teaching area.
