Thread: Give my students clips that show different body types

I made a mistake yesterday. I told my beginners that there is no perfect body for this dance, anyone can try it - and then - because there will be a short break soon for easter holidays and no classes - I said: "sure, I can post you links to youtube clips showing that there are many types of dancers, short, tall, small and larger in size and dancers from various cultural areas." And all this morning I have been browising the clips and I only seem to find very beautiful, small sized young girls dancing. This a of course natural. But, I also need clips of more mature dancers but also different kinds of bodies.

So help me to make this list I promised and send me links that show that really show that ladies of all kinds can do it this dance. and men, too, but I think that is even more difficult to find.

I'm only 5'2" on a good day. Aszmara of New York and Elena of New York are both fairly petite, but they are both fantastic dancers. Good things come in small packages.

I wish there were clips online of Raksanna of Naperville, IL - she totally brought down the house at the Faten Salama show last night.

I have made a playlist of Full Figured belly dancers for a male dancer who loves the girls with a little extra. I kept it private and simply shared it with him because I didn't want those on the smaller end of the scale included to be offended. If people think it would be alright, I could make it public.

Oreet is a great example, but she's not 5'2 or 5'3, I'm 5' and when I stood next to her at a workshop she taught - she was shorter than I. My guesstimate would be 4' 10". She looks taller on stage from sheer presence alone. I could watch her forever.

I had filmed the "Kitchen Baladi" total spontainious at 3 am, after reading a message from Tarik Sultan, lol, never thought people would like it, thought of it like one of the classic crazy things I do :)

I cant say i'm always comfortable with my size, but this is when I go to buy clothes (have you realized that the Medium size of 20 years before is now the XL size? ,m::)

Some months ago danced again the same music as at the kitchen baladi.
