    Taletha.com for Egyptian.

    Ruric-Amari.com for AmCab.

Liz Copeland had a group in Ft. Knox for a long time -- troupe Karat I think.
    MySpace.com - Troupe Karat - 35 - Female - FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY - www.myspace.com/troupekarat (old page)

Rya of IN dances in that area (tribal) and could give info on teachers in that area.

Traci Kruer is working with Gypsies of the Nile in the Louisville area, but don't know if she's teaching general classes. I could find out. .

Denise Bader had Gypsies of the Nile just across the bridge in Indiana. I guess she's all but retired from dancing, but her musical group is here:

    Did Traci take it over?

Patty Perryman taught in Lville too, but I don't know if she has regular ongoing classes anymore.

Check out medsok.com for the local dance scene, or Louisville Bellydance Darnit on tribe.

I'll second Ruric and Taletha! Ruric is my regular teacher, but I take workshops, etc. from Taletha. Both are very good at both teaching and performing.

Ruric-Amari is a very active performer who teaches in a broad range of styles and has her own studio, but L'ville is a long way from Fort Knox. A member of Malek was teaching out near Fort Knox, but student turnover was very high because of deployments. I think going to the Members page at MEDSOK.org is a good start; try contacting the individual teachers and see if they can give you a lead. If your friend wants the best in Egyptian training, then Nashwa at Berea is my suggestion; for tribal, Theresa Tomb at Mecca in Lexington; American, Turkish and experimental, Ruric-Amari; and gothic, Taletha. Your friend would have to travel for all of these but if she took private lessons or several hours of classes at a time she would learn a lot. IMO.

I hear that some one from Silk Studio teaches in Elizabethtown.
Let me see if I can find that somewhere...Ahh, here it is: The Dance Centre of Elizabehtown, KY
The only down side is that Elizabethtown is still a good 30 minutes south of Fort Knox. If she wants to head to Louisville, most classes are going to be about 40-50 minutes away (assuming there will be normal traffic).
Kind of a bad spot belly dance wise. It might be easier (and cheaper considering gas prices) to just do privates a couple of times a month.

Just a note: Taletha also teachers Egyptian (as that is her main dance style).

Re: Anyone teach in Louisville, KY?

    Hi everyone,

I'm sorry I haven't been active on Bhuz lately. I've been busy and have only just realized the reason I couldn't get into Bhuz was my web browser!

I second and third the teachers listed here and agree you may want to find someone closer to your area, if possible.

I teach Modern Egyptian style in group class settings and to private students who are of the beginning level. I teach Gothic belly dance and other higher level concepts to students who have an already established knowledge of belly dance.

Currently I am only teaching private lessons. However, I will have new, open to the public, classes soon.

If you are interested in scheduling private lessons, please contact me at talethadance@yahoo.com .

    Thanks!
    Taletha

And I'm going to jump in here and say that if you get a chance to take a workshop from Taletha and/or get to see her perform, you're in for a fantastic experience!
