classes that dont run every week

does anyone here have any classes (i'm thinking of a drill class and an advanced choreo class) that dont run every week, but a two hour fortnightly class? it's an idea i'm toying with in the "artemisia-goes-full-time" plan.

We do once-a-monthly drills classes...they function more like individual workshops though.

Depending on how well disciplined and trained your clientele is it could be possible to do forthnightly classes successfully.

    "artemesia-goes-full-time"-plan? Ohhh, do tell more.

yes, mine would be like a class series, not paid as workshop, the same price as my weekly classes, but only once a fortnight, and 2h then...

montly workshops ofcourse being an alternative option also to ponder.

the plan, oh, that's an eternal plan. but everytime it's in the works i get an academic offer i so far havent been able to refuse. my current research projects ends in a little over a year, and this is the first time i'm not actively looking for a follow up project. but who knows what will happen. at the moment i feel like leaving it to "providence" :-)

I like the idea of this. Sometimes it is hard making it to multiple weekly classes and having one that is only every other week makes for some nice time options on the off weeks.

Ooo- I like this idea- but would more likely do monthly... something else to think about...

I've been thinking about doing a lunch hour drill class, but rotating through different interested local instructors so no one gets overloaded & it can appeal to advanced dancers & professionals throughout the community, as well as provide another forum for local dancer networking. I was thinking about rotating instructors mostly because I don't want to commit to another weekly class- but maybe if it were only monthly, I could handle it myself instead. Or maybe still rotate through interested instructors & do it only monthly- Thoughts? I do live in a nice community where I can support & recommend the other instructors in town & would be happy to attend a drill class led by others periodically.

'course if it was once a forthnight, I could reserve that time every week and go out for coffee on the off weeks... now *that's* appealing

I took a four hour monthly performance class which was great. I liked that we had more time to go deeper into the exercises (regarding performance and choreography) and that we had time between classes to do homework. Only problem was that if you were ill that day you had to go A LOOONG time without class. And it seemed to be quite hard to remember to go. We had lots of people coming late (oops me too) because it was sunday at 10 am once a month.

I hold an advanced class that is bi-weekly. Most of the students also attend one other class each week at a lower level, but then they get the extra instruction every other week. They like the schedule but occasionally get confused about which week is on and which is off, so a web calendar might be helpful.

    I do monthly 2-hours workshops.
Many of them are cycles, like shimmy 1 to 5, veil 1 to 4 etc.
They work well for me because I don't want to do weekly classes.

Yes! My Competitive class is two hours roughly every two or three weeks and response has been really good. I think this works for dancers who can take 2 or 3 solid hours of physical work and not lose focus. (I think its actually easier on the teacher too.)

Artemisia, you already seem so busy, how much more full time can you get? ..l;,

eta the drill class i offer is acceptable for all levels, the higher level students get extra 'challenges' and/or layers ;)
