Thread: veil workshops?

assuming you could travel any where, any time...
who would you take a veil workshop from?

Is there such a thing as an ADVANCED veil workshop - with techinque and choreos? I want to take my dancing to a higher level.

A couple of years ago, I did a two hour veil technique workshop, followed by a two hour veil choreography workshop with Aziza. I had always been comfortable with veil, but her workshops made me think about so many things in a new way. I can't recommend her highly enough as an instructor, she's absolutely inspiring.

I second Aziza, I once took a really great veil workshop with her in Canada!

Cory Zamora, Aziza, Aziza Said, Fahtiem, and Shoshanna come to mind immediately for more advanced veil.

I second Aziza, and I'll add Artemesia of Belgium, too! She's fantastic, and does fun challenging stuff. I also love Tamalyn Dallal's old school veil work, and her teaching methods are impeccable.

Sonya of Chicago is one I'd add to the list. Her veil dancing is gorgeous.

Took an afternoon of privates with Sonya about a 1-1/2 years ago, while hubby was on a business trip. She was great!

If anyone hears of a 2010 veil intensive - please let me know.

How could Sonya have slipped my mind? She does amazing veil, and luckily for me she's practically local!

Elena Lentini, Dalia Carella, Jamila al-Wahid. All do magical things with the veil. I like Aziza's veil tricks too, but with these three it's a bit more natural and organic.

Aszmara in New York. And Mariyah, too. I just saw Alimah win the Champion title at the Belly Dance Nationals Competition- her veil was beautiful! She's on the west coast. I will be teaching Romantic Veil and a veil choreography down in Costa Rica in February, speaking of going 'anywhere'! And the Champion of the Alternative category will be teaching there, too, but not Veil.

I don't think either Farasha or Su'ad are Bhuzzers, but they are bringing Azmara to new London CT in March for their annual event. Are you near there?
