    hip shuffle

OK for some reason I am blanking on how to explain this one to my beginners!

They've done hip slides and actual circles but I think I confused them about where to put your weight for your basic hip shuffle. I can't believe I'm stuck on this but now I turn to you, my fellow Bhuzzers....

Can you describe the move you're calling a hip shuffle?

Are you talking about walking with hip circles?

Right, sorry, I am talking about walking sideways with half a hip circle (so it goes to the front or the back).

Oh, wait, you asked for a breakdown. Right. This is what I do, which has nothing remotely shuffly about it so it might be wrong.

Feet together, weight on the left foot, slide hip to left. This is where we start. As you step out the right foot, press the hips forward in your half circle. Your hips should be centre by the time that right foot is flat on the floor. (Ie a quarter circle) Continue half circle as you shift your weight onto your right foot and bring your left foot in.

This is how I used to do it too - but Yasmina of Cairo insists you step to the side first then circle.

So I imagine it depends on the look you want.
