Double veil hand hold?
I'm a little confused about this....
Does this mean that you hold both veils together as if the are one veil?
Or do you hold them with both index fingers in between the veils?
I'm having some tangling issues.

Re: Double veil hand hold?
The way "I" do it... if holding the veils are in front of me
the veil on the outside (furthest from me) is held between index and middle fingers - as usual.
the veil closest is pinched between my thumb and ring/pinkie fingers.
this way you can spread your hands apart to get between the veils for some moves.
note: if you're looking straight down at the edges of the veils it should look like this from the outside in.... ring finger, veil edge, index and ring fingers. veil edge, thumb and pinkie fingers

Re: Double veil hand hold?
I think I'm almost the same as Caasious. I hold one veil between the index and middle finger, and the other sort of tucked in the "v" of the thumb. I'll keep that 2nd veil between the index and thumb when I'm doing a "single veil" and when it's time to go inside the envelope I push my thumb towards my ring finger to make a wider opening. I can take a picture if it helps to see it visually! I'm better at showing things than describing them :P

Re: Double veil hand hold?
I learned to hold the outside veil between little and ring finger, inside between middle and index. Thumb is free to help out where necessary.

Re: Double veil hand hold?
I also hold between index and middle finger, but tuck the thumb under ... don't like it sticking out unless absolutely necessary (as in regaining control if things start to fall apart, lol...)

Safiyah, a picture would be great!
Azhia, I saw your description about holding both veils while holding zills. If you don't mind taking a picture too, that would be fabulous!

Re: Double veil hand hold?
I hold them as one intill it's rime to twirl and show I magicly have two. I spin all the while I'm sliping my index fingers inbetween the fabric and I hold one side with index and thumb and the other with the top of my index finger and middle finger. Once I slide them apart I do a rehold so both veils are in the same index-thumb hold. It sound strange bit I don't like thinking about if I've got top and bottom veils it shows on my face. I have grabbed just one veil one time and the other floated away. Eek! Also I never use silk for double veil. I'm one of those people who have extra static cling. Pff ;-P

Re: Double veil hand hold?
I'm sorry, I no longer have zills! I couldn't even remember it to visualize and describe to you, as the last time I did it was for competition 6 years ago and from that day forward I vowed I would never EVER do that crazy stunt again! ..l;,

Re: Double veil hand hold?
Thank you Safiyah!
That was very helpful. I've never had my pinky and ring fingers in that position. For some reason they're always bent. I never considered using them for veil control.

Re: Double veil hand hold?
For my new students (we use this with the single veil envelope to come in and out of it, much like one does for double veil) I call this hand position "Little Bunny Foo Foo" Because without the veil, it looks like a bunny. It seems to click for them. These other answers are interesting also. Thanks everyone!
