Thread: Instructional CD?

I'm wondering whether there is any worthwhile dance instruction on CD?

I like DVDs, but what I have in mind is different: I'd love to try the equivalent of Jamila's zills CD for dance, w/o zills. Something I can put on my iPod and that gives me spoken "Do this, do that" drills. You know, like Aziza's practice companion - just on a CD with somebody making me move around in a beneficial way for an hour, no matter where I am. (I need a practice crutch sometimes.)

I know I can rip the sound off a DVD and put that on an iPod - which is not quite it.

Hmmm, I have absolutely NO idea, never heard of anything like it.

There were those very old LP's... 60's? 70's? Somehow I doubt the instruction would be particularly useful for you, though! ..l;,

Do you have SoundForge or other editing software and a mike? You could always make and record some kind of practise drills for yourself. I know that kind of takes away the point of INSTRUCTION from somebody else, but...

I'm trying to figure out how that would work. With zills, it's pretty logical, because playing cymbals is an auditory thing to do. But unless you're wearing a coin scarf, a shimmy is silent, as is a rib cage circle.

I've thought that podcasts might be an interesting way to deliver factual info - stuff like music education, history, etc. But movement drills? Hmmm. Having trouble wrapping my brain around that.
