    Naming a Troupe

Hi ladies - I am working on a troupe name and am interested in getting opinions on this one: Qamari (which I have read means moonstone or alabaster)

As my own dance name means moon lady in farsi, I am interested in staying with the moon theme for this particular troupe. I haven't found anything negative about this name, but thought I would check it with the fantastic Bhuz dancers to see if there was anything inherently troubling about using this word as a troupe name. I have checked with a few Arabic speakers and all have said it sounds fine and I have checked the internet and not come up with any other troupes by this name.

    Thoughts?

Sounds like you've done all your homework! In Arabic, the root of the word is "Qamar" which means "moon" and the "i" makes the meaning "Moon-like".

Thanks, Leyla! I'm going for it then :)

and everyone seems to agree that Banat Al-Qamar means daughters of the moon, so that's next in line for the beginners :)

This is alway the hardest part of starting a troupe up for me - I have to find just the right name! The dancers are always the beautiful part :)
