HELP!!...Girls Night Out.... comming soon ...March 13th

    Hey Ladies!!

It's me again...Is it okay to do an entrance piece for the 6 minute demo song on a girls night out gig, and a pop song for the follow the bouncing butt song at the end, after teaching belly dance moves?

Can anyone with experience, give some ideas on songs that are impressive as a beginning song for me to perform? I Know I don't want pop as the first song , but I don't want to bore them either. Any ideas on an ending pop songs, that a bunch of eager to learn woman would like to dance too?

I'm thinking Layali Zaman (edited) to 5min for the first song. Steady practice type music for teaching bd moves, and something like Sarkan (Kiss) or something by Nancy Ajram.

    Thanks

Ask SatinWorship - she's got a lot of ideas on this kind of thing.

I often use a standard oriental piece for GNO parties, as well ask Bellygrams and other GP gigs. I think as long as much of the song is upbeat and there are lots of tempo changes, they'll keep the audience's interest just fine. I like Escape from Cairo, Raks Mimi, Gala Oriental, Leila Oriental, and Tales of the Sahara just to name a few.

I like to end with the Turkish version of "I Will Survive" or Rachid Taha's version of "Rock the Casbah" for GNO parties. They really seem to love it when they realize they're familiar with the song I'm using after all. But really, any upbeat with a steady beat will work for the dance-a-long part.

    Yep to all above!

For boppy song at end, Nancy Ajram is great, as is most shaabi by Hakim or Saad. The song I use most often (because it lends itself to teaching some repetitive combos, and sounds 'bellydancery' to the GP ear) is Electronica Bellydance by Mezdeke.
