Your most extreme class
What is in your kit bag for your most extreme class that you attend. You know, the sort of class where the heavy breathing drowns out the sound of any hip scarves, and where people are bending over in any breaks as if they have just finished the marathon. I'm particularly talking about when you have to go on all weekend for 10 + hours rather than a quick 2 hour workshop.
mine is:
Changes of top & bottom (especially the sort of material that wicks your sweat off like Nick dry-fit)
Changes of shoes/socks & blister plasters (at frequent intervals)
Nuts, seeds, energy drink, lots of water, bananas, apples.
small towel
Vitamin I (Ibuprofen)
Glucosimine

when i go on a weekend for 10 + hours of workshop, i actually have like 3-4 changes of class gear with me, but i also make sure those are clothes i can wear outside too. mix n match. i like plenty of clean tops...
a big towel and body&hair in one shower gel, so i can shower at the studio when toooo sweaty.
nuts and power bars, fruit.
something to cover my hair, in case it gets too wet with shower or sweat.
a zipper in front hooded top or something, to put on during breaks, especially when it's a heavy duty class,.
jazz shoes to protect my knees. they are fine with a 2h workshop, more, then they need padding.
dextrose

I just felt like some like minded folk would have some great tricks up their sleeves, as when I have mentioned it to non BD folks, they look in horror and say 'it's not healthy' and 'you'll wear out your hips' etc. Do runners have to put up with this I wonder.

i'm a sweaty SO;
i put my hair up
i don't bother with makeup. just eyebrows, moisturizer & chap stick.
my most comfy work out clothes.
change of under pants possibly a change o pants. i'm not sitting in sweaty wet pants in the car for hours.
baby wipes
water
ibuprofen
nuts, crackers
my meter in case i just start to crash & can't figure out why.
since i'm usually driving many hours to these things i really wanna try to get myself back into some sort of decent looking shape afterwards so i can stop somewhere to eat. tina

damn. I've yet been to a workshop that worked me like that. ..cr.: ..cr.: ..cr.:
I'd go to one in a heartbeat, despite all the workshops we have around here, I've never experienced that level of workout in one.
when Suhaila was here last year, it came close.- A deeply desired goal gives context to present experience... M. Stanton Jones

I keep it simple: Lots of water, a big towel, get my hair up one way or another, tie my tank top up. Oh, and LOTS of water! Sometimes, I'll go splash water on my face during the break...

yes. around the house i don't worry too much. i can usually tell what my blood sugar is but if i leave all day & do something unusual like a 4 hour workshop i take it. tina

I always have some protein snacks at these long workshops. I have my own dehydrator and may make my own jerky or buy some form a health food store. It helps to give me a boost during the workshop and it is easy to grab a bite of one.
I also found out that at those grueling 3 and 5 day workshops, I need some healthy fats. Like Cream cheese on a bagel or peanut butter sandwich. That helps my energy level as well.
And don't forget to add some extra carbs for energy as well. But I cannot do workshops on all carbs.

well, this morning it looked so sunny I was just about to ring my photographer friend to see if we could do those beach shots that we'd been talking about - and now 1 minute after that thought it's cold windy and raining - aaah well.
ooh a grueling 5 day workshop, I want gimmie gimmie gimmie.

My most intensive or extreme class would be Suhaila's one day level 1 & 2 workshop by Kendra. Then there is my Instructors technical class every week. That's also a Suhaila style and formatted class.

As a bellynutcase, NileGroup Festival with 6 days in row 9 hours workshops everyday is something i do 3 times per year (need vacations AFTER!!).
So nuts, water, power bars, towel, ballet shoes, wet towel with water and mint oil (wake me up), hair up.
Fortunately at the 15 min breaks, run to the room (same hotel) for quick shower.

Water, snacks, Neurphen, trigger point balls.
A good hint our tame physio gave us last intensive was to get some carbs and 40g of protein in within 30 minutes. This means the muscles will recover in time for the next day
- otherwise they can take 48 hours to be back to peak (at Brisbane we have a week of full days and some tutors really work you hard for the whole week). 40g of proten means those bars that taste like sawdust (at home I can do protein shakes but it isn't feasible at a workshop - and it usually takes an hour or so to getback to the accomodation)

my daily face is moisturizer, penciled eyebrows. cover stick under my eyes, powder & a tinted chap stick. at a glance i probably look natural.
to *me* that's not makeup. yes that's what i wear. i only makeup for performance or the very rare case i'm going somewhere other than the grocery store.
it's a habit i developed a zillion years ago when i was dancing 5 days a week & buying makeup continuously & i decided makeup was for work.
i have nice skin for an old broad. tina

Mr. Reda kicked my butt! If you ever take a workshop from him, make sure you have shoes on. There's tons of turning and by day 2 the balls of my feet were a mess.

Just got home from a 3 day Jim Boz intensive. In addition to the clothing end of things, I bring at least two pairs of dance shoes--ballet slippers plus either lace-up jazz shoes or Pedinis. Also have flexible arch support show inserts, ankle braces and knee braces. I like the braces that wrap with velcro for a good supportive fit. The intensive this weekend was on tile flooring and all braced up, my knees, ankles and feet felt fine.
Lets see, I also had aspirin and sports cream in my bag as well as some Icy Hot back patches, though I didn't any of those things. Also make sure I have lots of water and some healthy snacks.
I never ever dance barefoot at workshops or classes.
