Thread: ISO South Carolina instructors...

There is a possibility that I may be able to relocate to Columbia, SC within the next year. One of the deciding factors for me is the existence of a bd community - which includes instructors!

I'm an intermediate level dancer in my mid-40's. While I have taught beginners and really enjoyed it, it's really not where I am right now. I need to learn sooooo much more.

So, if you, or someone you know, teaches anywhere in the Midlands, please post - with as much info as possible.

Moving from Ontario to SC is stressful enough! I'm hoping the dance transition can smooth some of the rough edges!

I know that Asharah just relocated to Columbia, and she's teamed up with Natalie Brown (Delirium Tribal) for class offerings - and Natalie has done a great job with community events/performance opps down there. There are also more traditional teachers in the area too.

Where in SC were you thinking of relocating to? Greenville is just up the road from Atlanta where there is a hot bd scene. There are active BD communities in Augusta and Savannah Georgia (right on the SC/GA border).

I know there have been active teachers in Columbia for a while, but I don't know much about them. You'll have to report back to us on the local scene!

You're in luck! I (Asharah) teach in Columbia, SC, and so does my dance partner Natalie Brown. I teach Suhaila format and Jamila Salimpour-inspired classes, and Natalie teaches American Tribal Style (FCBD-based) and tribal fusion classes.
