why you should bring Midnight Mirage to your next event

I'm basking in the afterglow of a fantabulous show/workshop that Middle East Arts International hosted this weekend. we brought Jamileh and Midnight Mirage as our guest stars, and produced a show that included absolutely amazing bellydance (MM did two eye popping troupe numbers, and Jamileh, Tirza and Calypso did solos. we also had the amazing local dancers Sabura, Manon, and BDotU Dahlia), along with samba (with live music!), salsa, jazz and tango.

it's no secret that Midnight Mirage are amazing dancers, so incredibly creative, original, well-rehearsed and professional. but you also need to know that:

they are fabulous teachers and present really fun and interesting material. I looooove the jazz fusion routine jamileh taught on sunday. it was accessible, exciting, and (best of all?) easy to learn and remember.

they are so very nice. not a diva in the bunch. unflappable, dependable, and totally on the ball.

they are houseguests from heaven. I had to crash early a couple of the nights they were here, and I never heard a peep when they came in late at night. they left my home early this morning to fly back to utah, and they'd taken out the trash and had a load of towels running in the washing machine. :) you wouldn't even know they were here! (except for the lovely lingering perfume in the air...)

they are independent, gracious and easygoing. zephyra as it turns out is a master navigator, and they were happy as clams to take themselves around town and do their own thing. they didn't need babysitting or chauffering around or hand-holding. but on the other hand they were totally willing to hang out with me and my group and knock back a couple drinks and have a good time.

and, well, you simply HAVE to see their star trek/pocahantas costumes and chair routine to Rock the Casbah. :)
