    free or low cost bd classes in nyc?

    I know of one, maybe 2 free bd classes in Washington DC, so I'm thinking there must be some in NYC as well. Anyone care to share. My daughter goes to FIT, so near the Fashion district is good.

    I think the Harlem YMCA offers a cheap class(say $10 or so) but I can't think of any free ones. Some places might offer a free first class but thats about it. Serena's Studio offered $12 classes last time I checked and that was a long time ago. Good luck

    Dalia Carella's classes are PHENOMENAL and are a steal at around $14 - 17 depending on whether you buy a class card or not. I took her classes at Dance Theater Workshop in Chelsea; she might still be teaching a few there now, but I think she's primarily at Dance New Amsterdam

    I don't know of any free classes but some studios, like www.djoniba.com, have work study programs. There are some good bellydance classes at Djoniba.

    Maybe your daughter can check if her school offers free fitness classes for students. I teach at a college where they offer free Pilates, Yoga, etc and of course free belly dance classes. If they offer other fitness classes but not belly dance she and her friends could ask for it. Given the popularity of belly dance it shouldn't be too hard to get them approved.

    I took a PRIVATE with Dahlia, and she only charge $50 an hour. Now that's a steal!
