Thread: how do you adjust classes w/ramadan ?

i did not get hit that hard, but it became a scheduling factor. usually, if a class or private client go away but want their time kept, they have to pay to keep it held. i use the slot for make ups, or out of towner's . but i found that i just cant do that when it comes to this. on good faith, i kept their slots on hold for the month.

I live in an area with a VERY low Muslim concentration, so it hasn't affected my classes at all.

It hasn't affected my classes either. I have few Muslim students - they just don't come for those weeks if it's a problem.

I've had Muslim teachers say that if they were dragging or acting a bit scatterbrained, please excuse them because they were fasting and it was getting late in the day, but otherwise, it hasn't come up. Technically, I think it is the practicing individual's responsibility to take up the slack on this, not a non-believer, but people aren't perfect. If you want to make special accommodations, that's very considerate, but it's up to you.

Same here - the towns where I teach are not exactly known for being ethnically or culturally diverse. To my knowledge, I've only had two Muslim students in the 5 years I've been teaching.

I've been teaching 8 years. I've had one - maybe two? - students who wore hijab.

I think I've had other Muslimas, but the subject of religion doesn't come up much in dance class, so I don't really know.

update...they paid me for the month to hold open their spots...i used those spots for makeup untill they came back.
