Thread: Thanks to MandyT & Chris- another brillian JoY

I'm just home from JoY (Artemisia's staying here & catching the Eurostar tomorrow morning.

Thanks Mandy - it was brill. Asmahan is a wonderful addition to the JoY Pantheon of Fame. I loved Djamila & Seetha too.

It was particularly good to meet some of the bhuzzers I'd not managed to see before. Hi to Lizajuk (who I *had* met before), Deelybopper, BellydancingCaroline, Heather (a lurker- come out of those shadows and join in, the water's lovely!), Candi, and I think that's it, but if I've missed you, I'm sorry, but do post and remind me.

just got back to Leuven. twas a long journey home!!

thanks to Beatrice (for company, driving, letting me stay over, and being my gossip friend), to Kay (for selling me a gorgeous new sparkly!) for all the bhuzzers (for saying hello to me!!! and being generally nice people!), and a big round applause for MANDY for organising such a FANTASTIC festival with great workshops and a fantastic show. I really loved asmahans workshops and performance.

highlights of the show (other than asmahan...) (and i didnt see everything cause i performed myself so was backstage and changing for some of the show)

for me highlights were: chris Ogden's troupe who do, let's call it "ETS" (english tribal style, they reminded me of the wicker man), Candi (fantastic shaabi) and Seetha with her wings and fans (and i usually dont like gimmicky props but she does them really well) .... and i'm sure i'm forgetting some, it was a really good show with loads of performers... oh yes, Khaled! i'd never seen him perform before and i really liked his second set (baladi).

asmahan is a "drama queen", in the positive sense, amazing sense for dramatics, and i really loved seeing her on stage, and trying to grasp some of her style in the workshop. i also took a workshop with Djamilla (germany) who is a fantastic teacher who i'd love to take more workshops with.

looking forward to Joy in April already!

Hi Artemisa <waves!> it was great to meet you in person. I love it that we can get straight down to the nitty gritty of the dance with bhuzzers, as we've already covered the polite basics online. Other people you meet in a dance class would think you weird, but bhuzzers say "oh yes ! and another thing....."
