Thread: Who would you use your vacation to go study with?

Let's say you have the time and means to travel somewhere (within reality and reason, nothing transcontinental) to study with an instructor who teaches in an area too far from you to normally go.

Who would you go work with?

Furthest I've gone is Montreal, Canada to study with Randa Kamal, would do it in a heartbeat again.

Anywhere on the Eastern Seaboard in the continental US for Tito, Randa (also Canada for her), Aziza, Cassandra Shore...

Excluding touring Egyptians ;-) I think I would not go that far--just down to New York, because there are so many instructors there I would love to work with: Ranya Renee, Nourhan Sharif, Mohamed Shahin, Yousry Sharif. I could always schedule this vacation for when somebody international was appearing in NYC as well!

I would camp in Aziza's backyard for my whole vacation.

Also Raqia Hassan (though she doesn't have a backyard, I'd be on the street).

Farida Fahmy. Sahra. Cassandra. Aziza. Faten Salama. Hadia, probably. From what I've seen on video and recommendations from people I trust, I think also Reyhan and Beata in Germany and Nesmah in Spain.

And you can't beat Arizona..g.: I've taken workshops from her and
her teaching style is fantastic!

Actually, I *did* spend my summer vacation studying with Amel Tafsout. Even better, she came and stayed with me. It was magical... ..g.:

Can I have 4 vacations? ..g.: Sahra, Aziza, Hadia, and Ahlan Cairo Nights.

saving my pennies for Yasmina Ramzy's pro course at the moment- would also love to spend a couple weeks with Artemis, maybe piggyback that with the Turkish festival, I am longing to go study with Margo Abdo (& I could see my brother in law at the same time) and I really want to do all of Sahra Saeeda's JTE series.

of course there are many MANY others I would love to spend time with, but those are on my somewhat realistic list! Fantasy list is much longer...

Oh, and I also spent over a week with Sahra Kent! It was a good summer indeed, even if I couldn't afford a vacation. ..c::

I'd love to spend time with Norma, Astryd, Karim Nagi, Ava Fleming, that's enough to mention for now, many more though

I would love to study with Yasmina too, but shouldn't happen before 3-4 years ..l;,

I would go pretty much anywhere, if I can "afford" it (well, if my mastercard can). I'm in Montreal so I'm lucky because I can take classes with Aziza once in a while, but I'd definitely travel to study with her if it wasn't the case. A lot of dancers also come to MTL to teach workshops...

So far I've only been to Miami (MBDC 2009), but Vegas is next and I'd consider going pretty much anywhere. I usually use at least one of my 4 weeks of vacation for dance. But I didn't in 2010, though.

Ssipes, you know... they are like Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny... you might catch a glimps of one out of the corner of your eye!

I've only seen instruction vids of Aziza, so I'd want to go visit her. Maybe Jim Boz, his thought process and lessons intrigue me. Aradia of Los Vegas, I'd love to have a private lesson with her.

I have a few not so well know teachers I would like to study with, too. *sigh*

Hmm, the no-transcontinental rule will set limitations to my dreams. So, I've got Lena Helt an one-hour flight away. A flight of around three hours would take me to Mercedes Nieto (but she's coming to Estonia in November anyways) or Razia (one of the newest additions to my favourite instructors' list).

I'd kinda like to go study w/ Delilah and her entourage for a while... I've never been to Seattle.

Cassandra, Yasmina Ramzy, possibly Hadia, maybe Amera, but right now I want to use it to go to Egypt. Inshallah next year. US is cheaper but... gotta go once.

Hmm within Europe I would pick Yasmina, Khaled Mahmoud, Lorna, Imman Mussa, Rakiya, Farah Bakkali, Lolie, ZaZa Hassan, Momo Kadous, Prince Kayammer, Maria Aya, Mercedes Nieto, and I think I can continue for about an hour

My first thought was Yasmina Ramzy or Hadia - clearly I'd go to Canada!

But I also love Badriya's idea of spending the week in NYC, studying with all the great instructors there. In fact, it's so close, that's something I had thought of before - before I had the kiddo!

The time spent in between work and family obligations? You know, that whole 8 minutes a month.

In any case, sign me up for Sahra's Journey to Egypt for my next block of unpaid, unscheduled time.

If I had unlimited money I would go study with Sahra Saeeda, Yasmina Ramzy and Artemis Mourat.

What is more realistic for me and something I'd eventually like to do is go spend a week in Seattle taking a lot of lessons with my teacher who I only see once a month or so.

Artemis Mourat! I've traveled to DC to study with her three times (plus a couple more when I was traveling there for the day job), and they were worth every penny and every minute.
