    Student with sore lower abs

    I have a student who is experiencing a tightness in her lower abdominal muscles (below the bellybutton). She is a beginner who is also taking yoga and says that the exercises done in both her dance & yoga class only serve to make the muscles more tense.

    I've never encountered this before. Is there any way to stretch that area? Any suggestions?

    tell her to have a baby, that'll stretch it out nice and loose!

    seriously thourhg, have her lay down on her back, pointing her toes out to one wall, fingertips to the opposite wall, this will give an overall abdominal stretch.

    There are more, but see if she can feel that first

    I have sore abs all the time, but that's my instructors fault. She puts us through the wringer when it comes to ab work....

    Heh-heh! I'm not saying I'm not a little responsible for it myself, but it's causing her more discomfort than just my evil exercises. ,r:;

    i just started a thread about this in the fitness section. my soreness is in my upper abs tho. but it's really painful. i'll just try to lay off all the chest and hip circles i tend to do. and do more stretching.
