Dance Resume
so...
:)
I have an audition on Friday night for a job teaching beginning belly dance classes!
I'm so excited...I know many of you know that I've wanted to start teaching for a LONG time...
The owner of the studio called me on Saturday...she got my name and number from my sister, who is taking her kids to the studio for beginning dance classes. I guess something was mentioned about bellydancing, and my sister told this woman that I'm fabulous (because she is completely unbiased! ..g.: ), and now, she wants to see me dance and discuss the possibility of me teaching.
I'm THRILLED. Number one, I'm really glad that she actually wants to see me dance herself, and is not just going to take someone's word for it. Number two...I'm just EXCITED!!
So my plan is to go in and dance (I'm still deciding on a piece), and present her with a lesson plan, and a dance resume.
Has anyone else ever done something like this? It is too much? I want her to see that I am very serious about this, and that it is not just a "hobby" for me, but a passion...
Ideas? Thoughts? Advice? :)

A copy of my initial proposal for our dance classes at SIUC's Student Rec Center is posted on Shira's web site (if you think you need something like that - which I don't think you do at this point since the woman has contacted you and not vice versa). Shira, do you also have a sample resume on your site? (I'd look for myself to be able to tell you, but I'm trying to get out of my office in 10 minutes and still have several items to wrap up - so what the heck am I doing looking at Bhuz and answering questions instead!?!)

Tedi, do you mind if I e-mail you what I've got for my dance resume? I know you're busy, but if you could just take a quick peek... ;)

I would bring a syllabus and a class description (both of these were needed in securing teaching jobs for me) of your session. If it is 8 weeks, I'd break it down as to what you will do in every class, including warm ups. It is also helpful to you as a new teacher to keep you on track during the session.
Just a thought.....
