I usually wear yoga pants, a skinny T or spaghetti strap tank top and a hip scarf.
I've customised most of my yoga pants and a lot of my t-shirts using my rhinestone gun (See my Fun with Rhinestones page

Yoga pants, wrap top (long live Sharifwear!), and hip scarf, usually with a sleeveless leotard underneath. I'm thinking of trying it with a mesh midriff cover instead, which might be cooler.
Also, I suddenly have an uncontrollable urge to stick rhinestones on things. Never tried that -- looks like fun!

I like bootcut yoga pants and sturdy shelf-bra tanks (my favorites are all from Marika).
I like Sharifwear, too, but I only wear the really full pants for my more advanced classes. I get tired of constantly pulling them up so the beginners can see my feet.
When I was thinner/younger & happier about showing my belly, I liked cholis and Sharifwear tie tops. I used to like mesh-middle unitards a lot, but the newer bootcut ones are so expensive!

Yoga pants, a hip scarf, and a t-shirt or tank top tied up under my bra (usually BD related). I occasionally go crazy and break out the melodias.
10-29-2007 09:20 AM #9I have a pair of Nia pants with a ruffle (I can't find them online, it may be a discontiued item), and I usually wear those and a tank top. Black is my dominant color. Sometimes I wear a burgundy velvet tie-top, or a t-shirt crop top, or even a t-shirt tied up in the back (this is the way I use all my cute belly dance t-shirts).
I always wear some sort of hip scarf, and sometimes ballet slippers.

Yoga pants, tank top or choli or leotard (the hip scarf covers the "panty lines" of the leotard) or unitard with mesh midriff, hip scarf. But I too like cute stuff, so here are places I shop:

A mesh middle unitard (shows the work of the midrif musculature - even through the ah... jigglier flesh) so the students can see the entire full range of motion/posture/positioning and a contrasting hip scarf (usually coin-less to keep the counter tempo the coins generate from distracting the students). Of course, I'm teaching exclusively beginner level classes at the moment. I might opt for something a little more fun with a more advanced group (that already knows about the foundation movements, posture and body/leg positioning for the movements...g.:

Must...add....rhinestones to my clothes!!! Those are so cute Bea!!! ..l;, I see a Bedazzler purchase in my future!!!!
I generally teach in workout pants and tank tops with shelf bras built in and a quiet hip scarf. Some are dance related tops, some are not. Hair up in a ponytail. Ballet slippers or lyrical sandals on the feet. Whether or not I'm wearing glasses or lenses depends on what I did for my day job that day.
I had a few unitards that I loved but they have died after a long term of service. I'd like to get at least one of the sugar petals versions with the mesh middle.
I prefer workout wear to skirts and a lot of busy stuff just because I want the focus to be on my body position, not the jingly scarf noise or how my skirt is swirling.

I used to wear a Sugarpetals unitards (I love my powernet...lol) and a hip scarf of some variety, but I found that I was wearing out the inner leg seams in just a few months. Same thing happened with the yoga/jazz pants I tried to wear over the unitards for a while. I don't know if its the wear and tear combined with constant laundering and the thin fabrics or my tree trunk sized thighs (LOL) but I was having to replace both unitards and pants too often.
Now I wear the unitards with melos which seem to stand up to the wear and tear a whole lot better. Occationally I will go bare bellied with a cholie top of some type, or put a cholie or tie top over my unitard. I love the melos for teaching wear because I feel like I look good in them, they are easy for students to see my movements in and I can tie the legs up so they can see my feet.
Part of me would love to wear the pretty sparklie things in my closet to teach in but its completly unpractical. Students can't see things like knees and feet, and the wear and tear on them would considerably shorten the life span of my costumes. I will however often wear something "costumy" like a skirt and cholie for the last class or two of a session so the students can see how a costume effects the visual of what they are doing, and give them ideas for their own if they want to create or purchase a costume at some point down the line, but never the full out show costumes.

Check out Kim Sakkara Clothing, Portland, Oregon
She has the most awesome pants. If you are short waisted like me, you will love her pants. Hi quality product. I have 4 or five pair. I don't trip on them. I love my Geisha moth pants but have to tie them up so I don't break my neck.
If you are tall Kim makes tall pants too!
I also love my Suhailia pants. Comfy! When the weather gets cold up north here I wear my unitard from Dahlal. Excellent quality product. I have washed that thing a zillion times and it still looks brand new. Most time I wear one of the spagetti strap dance shirts from various workshops and seminars I have attended. Thanks for listening.

L Rose jazz combo - slightly flared jazz pants and the U-top with high neckline and extra band under the ribcage. Love it! The velvet is perhaps a bit warm for class, mind you.

For a straight class: leotard, tights and a veil around my hips.
For a party class: leotard, tights and one of those old style Egyptian skirts with lots of paillettes and fringe - plus earrings, necklace and eye makeup. (That way I have some shinies but can still easily wash the sweaty bits)

sturdy sports bra
cotton tank top, close fitting
cotton, lycra gym/yoga pants, usually the cropped type so feet are visible
simple cotton scarf. [dont like to encourage noisy clothing in class]
ballet slippers or bare feet if floor is good/clean
glasses!
not glam and probably worse than what you are trying to improve :)
basically, my gym clothes
a matching top/bottom would probably up the glam factor

I'm currently wearing Sugar Petals unitards so that students can clearly see what my muscles and legs are doing, with a big ol' jingly hipscarf. I'm hoping (now that there's a little less of me to go around) to make the transition to either Sharifwear pants or jazz pants and a tank just because it would be way more convenient. I guess if the tank is tight enough, students will still be able to see my ab contractions etc....

Leggings, bootcut pants or fauxlodias, crop top (over a bra), hip scarf, and lately overskirty things as well, and ballet shoes.

Well I guess i'm the first saying that i'm teaching in a pretty arabic look lol
So tight collan under, a tight dress (up tight, down floating) a bit up from the knees the dress, a hip scarf and a head scarf.
My dresses are from stretch cotton and they are great for teaching, absorving sweat etc.

Bootleg pants or capri, usually with a little skirty affair over it instead of a hip scarf ( noisy, tend to bunch up or fall off), a bra top and arm-warmers. toe-socks if the floor is gnarly.

Must. Have. Rhinestone. Gun! That's it, I'm off to the craft shop...Oh wait, then I won't be able to wear those pants to yoga. Don't care! Gotta have sparklies! Gonna go buy more dancepants, then.
I presume those rhinestones survive lots of washing?

I've recently made the radical decision - no more black!!So I'm in melos and matching tie tops any colour but black unless it is sparkly .I never wear a hip scarf-don't mind the students wearing them though. When I'm a bit thinner I'm going to wear bright hot pink...g.:
