What is the minimum requirement that most dance studios require for liability insurance?
I'm currently looking into purchasing liability insurance, and was wondering what is the minimum that most dance studios require? Is it $1,000,000? I'm looking at the one year premium and I hate to say it but I'm looking at what's the cheapest that I can afford right now, and I'm afraid that if I buy the cheapest, then I might not get the chance to teach at the local studos. What is the best thing to do in this case?

The studios and cities with which I am familiar require $1 million. Ask the studio/venue what it requires and purchase that. You may also be asked to name the studio/venue as an "additional insured," so ask the studio/venue how it should be named on the policy.

Most places here require $1 million, but check on other fees too- some insurance companies charge something like $50 for every certificate they have to issue, so if you teach at multiple facilities, that can add up. One policy might look better before you add in all the extra fees, but not so hot afterward!

Ok, thank you, I will ask the local studio that I'm planning on going to, it's probably best to go with the minimum requirement. Thank you!

Wow, only $1m? My local venues (Melbourne, Australia) tend to require $10 million! That strikes me as odd, given the US is generally viewed from here as a more litigous country. Of course, that's not at all helpful to you, and says nothing about the premiums, but I just thought it was interesting...

I am also on the lookout for new insurance. I used to have insurance from IDEA. This company caries insurance from Philadelphia Insurance, which covers $1 Mil. I also have my own liability waver form, which is a great thing to include in addition to having the insurance.
However, IDEA just jacked their price up to over $400 for three years of insurance, which is crazy since I originally paid only $200. So I am leaving them and looking for a better company.Discover the Ancient Art of Belly Dance and Reclaim Your Body
