Hi there!

Just wanted to plug this workhsop! The workshop last year was great. It's intended for intermediate to advanced levels, He doesn't really break things down & expects you to follow. We review combos a few times, then he adds on. He is expected to do cabaret & assaya (cane)

There will be vendors there. Also, there is a show Sun nite at Juliana's featuring various artists (heard from the grapevine to name a few: Sonya, Alexandria, me (doing Tunisian), & more) as well as Mohamed performing his Tanoura dance.

Dance Showcase “Scherezahde” admission $15 at the door

8pm at Juliana’s Restaurant

3001 W. Peterson, Chicago, IL.

Mohamed Shahin will perform some of his signature traditional dances of Egypt, including the Tanoura, or Whirling Dervish. Don’t miss live performances from top professional dancers including Katya Faris of Bloomington, IN, Shadia of Detroit, Sonya of Chicago, Norma of Detroit, Natasha of Chicago/Portland, and many more that will feature dance styles from all over the Mediterranean and Middle East. Open dance to DJ music. Special menu and drinks available.

So far, there is a line up of about 12 dancers. I'm doing traditional Egyptian possibly Oum Khoulsoum. Shadiah is doing Greek style belly dance. Someone is doing Turkish style, someone is doing Nubian. Should be a great show.

After the workshop concert there is the regular live performance with band, singer and dancer.

ooo id like to go. I need to get a part time job over summer break to attend all these miscellaneous workshops and still to to the IBDC.
