Seattle area instructor recommendation?
My daughter is moving to Seattle and wants to continue her bellydance studies when she gets there.
Her training has mostly been in Middle-Eastern based styles, but she's not terribly fussy about Egyptian, Turkish, AmCab, etc. She's not sure she's interested in making a transition to tribal fusion, but in her googling that's mostly what she's finding.
I looked through Shira's directory but I'm not familiar with most of the dancers there. What about Delilah's Visionary Studio, that looks like a big player with a strong leader (which can be an awesome thing or a terrifying thing, depending on the dancer at the helm)?
Oh, also, my daughter will want a studio that's friendly to all body types.

Ditto on Saqra and Elissa Gamal. There is also Mirabai and Sabura. This is a pretty comprehensive source (not just Tribal) - also lists places to see dancers in the area.

Re: Seattle area instructor recommendation?
Hi Lauren,
In my experience most everyone that teaches in Seattle is very supportive of all body types, so she should rest easy if that is a concern.
I would highly recommend:
Helene Eriksen Helene Eriksen ? Traditional Dances from North Africa to Central Asia
Sabura http://home.att.net/~sabura
Nadira Belly Dance with Nadira
Nalini Nalini - Bollywood , Belly Dance and Gypsy dance instructor, choreographer and performer.
Zulaika Zulaika
Hope that helps!Zanbaka: Performer, Instructor, Author-Bellydance for the Versatile Dancer zanbaka.com

Delilah and the other teachers at Visionary Dance are wonderful. Elisa Gamal is also an amazing teacher, I see her for private lessons and attend classes the aforementioned studio. Dahlia is great too, she is teaching her last session at visionary right now, but is continuing her classes up in Lynnwood, I think.

Thank you so much! My daughter is still getting settled and probably won't be ready to start classes for a few more weeks, but i'm delighted to have so much information to share with her when she's ready!

I don't know whether your daughter would be interested, but Mahmoud Reda will be teaching a workshop in Seattle (Kent, actually) in August. I'm flying out there for it. Details here: Mahmoud Reda: Pioneer Of Egyptian Dance Theatre
