    The Stranger Things Students Say

    I teach a small private class of Orthodox Jewish women once a week, and today one of them said, while executing a series of hip lifts, "I feel like Ralph Kramden!"

    This is by far the funniest thing a student has ever said to me.

    Too funny!!! What an excellent analogy for hip lifts! I am dating myself now since I know who Ralph Kramden would be. :)

    Aw, hey, I am many decades younger than that show, and I know about it...it lives forever in reruns. I just, er, didn't know that Orthodox Sephardic women watched it. My mom refused to allow it when I was a kid, because it reminded her of her Bronx childhood (irascible men in their gattkes, yelling in their drab tenement apartments).

    But what exactly was my student talking about?!
