The one that Sumaya started? I only saw two or three people's choreographies to the first song, then a second piece was selected for the following month and I never heard anything about it again.
We're not doing that anymore?

Oh, I had pretty much finished my choreo for the second one (Daret) but then I just forgot all about it. I can dig it back out & make a video, maybe... next week?

I listened to the Daret song but then other stuff happened and I totally forgot. WE can reopen the thread, I'm still in!

May/June
Sure post your clips! I wanna see!
opcorn:
Ive been crazy busy with performances and workshops I havent gotten to it either. Perhaps this weekend. Can we upload the clips directy to bhuz? That'd be nice.
For the May/June one who wants to pick the song? Evrybody is grumbling about my choices (myself included) so someone list a few and we'll put it on a pole er...poll. Thought that looked funny
The song has to be:
1. short and sweet
2. downloadable from somewhere like demna, itunes, or walmart, etc.
3. I dont think it matters really what version of the song you dance to, as long as its the same song
I vote for Ana Fi Intezarak (Sp?)

I was thinking the same thing. i guess everyone has been too busy, including myself. Perhaps we can make a group here on bhuz instead of youtube??

I love Ana Fi Intazarek, too, but I'll have to look through my CDs to see if I have a version I like.
I always think of Nour's husband singing it in her youtube clip -- ahhhhhh. I want a version like that one!!!!
So are we going to do Daret El Ayam or skip it?

Oh, details are simple. We choose a song, then each videotape our interpretation of it (choreo or improv) and put the results on the Youtube group so we can enjoy the variety!
So far the videos have all been low-key. Practicewear instead of costuming, etc.

Heeee! I wonder if I can do it, I have a broken toe on each foot at the moment. Not a lot of traveling in it, though.... Maybe I can film it next week.
After I re-learn it!

Not that I have the ins and outs of working with you tube down at all, but here is the links to the past two choreography challenges
http://www.youtube.com/group/leilakairo (Jan/Feb)
http://www.youtube.com/group/daretalayambhuz (no vids in this one sadly.)
I have to admit I really like these challenges and swiped the idea for one of my classes. They loved it! I gave them cds with two songs to chose from and they then choreographed or improvised something to whichever song they chose. Everyone performed their piece at the end of the session and we all had a ball. It was fun to see the gals who are very quiet and reserved break out of their shells so to speak as well as to see how 15 or so women all heard the same couple of peices of music differently. It's something I plan on doing with the class a few times a year. Who knows maybe I'll get brave enough to do one of the challenges here *grin*

Ohhh yes Ana Fintizarak!
My favourite song (in fact the Beata and Horcio version is the ringtone on my phone - Is that sacralidge?!), plus there is a 2:30 version by the Cairo orchestra that would fit the time limit nicely!
I do feel I'd be slightly cheating on this one, seeing as it's a song I know so well!

Oh, this is good timing for this thread! I know that I'm waaaaaaaaay behind on the choerography thing, but I wanted to wait until my troupe was ready before I posted my choreo for Leila. I'm having a "troupe hubby" tape our final rehearsal today. (We will be performing it on Friday night.) Hopefully I can have it posted sometime later this week.

Im going to skip the Daret one and go straight to Ana Fi. Is that a final answer to the music (we all know Ana Fi- I assume- so dont worry)? I was actually working on a CHOREO (gasp) to this yesterday.

<groans> Does this have to be a group instead of a thread? I'm not really enjoying the groups feature on Bhuz, sorry.
