Thread: What is your favorite day of the week to teach?

Do you teach evening classes or weekend classes? Which day of the week (for evening classes) is your favorite day to teach? Or do you prefer the weekends? Which day is most popular with your students? I'm currently teaching Monday and Wednesday evenings, but may need to make a change. I'm wondering what your experience has shown.

Currently I teach one class each Monday-Thursday. What I would like is to have two classes per night - but it doesn't work with my current students (either the alternative day is not possible or they feel a class starting at 7:30pm is too late). Once summer arrives I should be able to consolidate.

I have often had people ask for "daytime" classes - but I have never managed to get the numbers on the same day at the same time. I considered weekedn classes but the other teachers offer lots of classes Saturday/Sunday.

Mondays, as I am sure you know, are bad because of holidays.
I like Tuesdays best. Friday is too close to the weekend for those who travel a lot. For a while I had a lot of church-going students and Wednesdays would not have worked for them.

I don't teach on weekends because of family time.

Thursday.

I've taught on Wednesdays since the beginning of time and that has always been a good day.

Right now I teach 2-3 classes per night, Mon-Wed and all are fine, although Mondays do bump into a lot of holidays. Personally, I LOVE being off Thurs-Sun because I can take off for a long weekend whenever I want and not have to hire a sub.

Saturday mornings have been popular in the past, but I don't want to be committed on weekends any more.

I like Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Both for teaching and taking classes. However, my focus is on my dance education and not on teaching, so I work my teaching schedule around the classes that I take. I work full time and take various classes most evenings. On weekends I tend to have workshops, gigs, and/or rehearsals. So any free day is a good day for me!

Wednesdays (evenings), hands down ..... Mondays are a problem because so many holidays fall on a Monday, and students don't show up. Fri/Sat/Suns best reserved for potential gigs, workshops, special events, and also are the worst days for students. Tues, Thurs are OK. HOWEVER, this year I am missing my fav show, SYTYCD--it is on Wed PM at exactly the time slot I teach, so I dash back just in time to see who's been let go.... (No, I don't have the technology to tape it & watch later, LOL ..... before you suggest it ...)
Anyway, generally, Tues-Wed-Thurs seems best for all ..... I did try Sunday nights several times, it never worked out.

I like mid-week, too many holidays on Mondays. BUT, I gave my rehearsal club a choice of either Tuesday or Friday evening, and to my amazement they picked Friday... something about sleeping in the next day or something on the plus side, that means they're usually available for Friday happenings!
