Abdominal Isolations
Since no one seems to have seen Cindy Loader's Dance of the Belly instructional video to give a review of it (though if you have seen that video and hadn't noticed my thread, it's over in Product News and Reviews), I was wondering if people could offer suggestions for working on abdominal isolations.
My abdominal control is getting pretty good, and I had many people comment on it after my last show, so of course that's really motivated me to improve further! I can do the basics: rolls up and down, psoas pulls/pushes. I almost have the flutter, and I'm sure I'll get it with a little more practice.
I'm looking for new ideas and good technique drills for those. That's why I had really hoped to find a good instructional: so I'd have clear guidelines for practice.
Ideas? DVD recommendations? Part of the blurb on Loader's video describes how she puts two candles on her abdomen and pulses them so that the flickering of the flames matches the beat of the music. That sounds pretty flashy! :-O

Have you seen Rania's ab section of her 10-min. daily quickies DVD?
I thought that was pretty good.
Hmmm...You've got me very curious about this Dance of the Belly video. I may just have to get it...

Delilah of Coin Flip Fame?
04-27-2007 05:05 PM #4candle flame: You pop or push out your lower ab muscles, then contract those and pop or push out your upper, the contract uppers, and pop or push out your lower, etc. etc. in time to the music...while laying on the floor with the candles right on top of your upper abs, (right under rib cage) and lower abs, (right under bellybuttom)
Edited to add< I second Bea's suggestion, Delilah's III - DVD has the bellyrolls, pops, pushes, etc. She's second to none with ab control. That's one of the reasons I'm bringing her out to Boulder In September......

So is the Delilah III DVD worth adding to one's collection?

I love the warm up in Sadie's drum solo DVD. I do it every day. She has a great section in there on abdominal isolations and also flutters.
I'm equally hooked on Suhaila's Fitness Fusion series, my 3 faves are Yoga, Pilates and Buns and I pluck sections out of all 3 and drill religiously. Great for conditioning ..g.: She has some wonderful drills for abdominal isolations ... IMO she has fabulous drills for just about everything ... would love to travel to the US and study with her one day ...
