I heard the rumors but here y'all go. I got this email today. I am loyal as an old hound dog..to my own detriment. Now while I really liked Tiffany as an assistant to Suhalia, I wont be rushing out to take her workshops or buy her Cd's. I dont care if she does have a lithe stature..short round girls...just give up now! ..l;,

Did you get this via regular email? I just got an email from "Tiffany" re "beauty conspiracy 2008" and deleted without reading -- I assumed it was spam, so I don't even know what was in the message.....

I got the huge, extensive email as well, no doubt garnered through my association with the SS School of Dance. Not sure how I feel about that.
No mention of SS, or even training with her in this letter or the website.
Questions, questions...

I don't know Tiffany but I am willing to give her the benefit of the doubt despite the rumor mill... but I don't like what she says here in her bio:

"Her lithe stature enhances her ability to portray the dance in an extraordinarily graceful style..."

She should rephrase that by removing "Her lithe stature..." because that totally says to me, "you can't be a true dancer unless you are skinny." Which blows the saying clear out of the water, "Belly dance is for all shapes and sizes." A saying which allowed me to be OK in starting this dance in the first place. </soapbox>

I'm sorry if this changed the way you thought this thread subject might go.

I don't think it's bad for a dancer to point to their physicality in a bio. Lord knows all anybody ever talks about with Rachel Brice is her body, and it's definitely in a way that is used to talk about how her physique helps her express the dance. Or just look at all the responses on the thread about "movements for specific body types".

Also, the bio in question doesn't say anything about a person being unable to dance, or "can't be a true dancer" if they are skinny - I think that is really projecting something onto the bio which isn't there. all it says is that her body type allows her to express the dance in a unique way, (which happens to be true -- of course each person's body performs the dance uniquely.)

(As far as all the other stuff, thankfully I have no particular stance, because I don't know any of the people involved.)
