Thread: Hillary Thacker?

Reviews on her dvd's? any good?

amazon.com keeps recomending them to me, I'm curious as to her style, whether the dvd's are worth the $$$ and if her technique is good.

There are reviews on my web site at Belly Dancing: Shira's Reviews of Instructional Videos, Alphabetical List . My reviews are based on the original VHS version of her videos, so I don't know whether the DVD editions have any additional material.

I bought her Egyptian Bellydance for Beginners a few years ago. It's ok-ish... It was my introduction to bellydance and it served its purpose, but it wouldn't be the first dvd I'd recommend to a baby bellydancer. No extra features on my copy. Also, she teaches in a black outfit against a dark background so it's hard to make out what she's doing at times.

I had her advanced Egyptian video years ago and was not impressed at all. For largely the same reasons Shira comments on in her review, except I would probably give it 2 stars out of 5 instead of 3.

I watched this dvd a couple of months ago and totally agree with Shira. However, I found it rather disturbing that this is an instructional dvd when you don't get that much instruction, so I would rate it 2 out of 5 too.

I bought the advanced..pardon my bluntness...I was taken on a one hour ego trip.

this may have been my intro to bd as well...if you're a visual learner you might do ok but the main problem as others have noted is the dark costume against a dark background.
