the movement at the beginning....at 00.29 time.

it looks like a twist shimmie with a reverse to me....I could be wrong...

layering is never easy...
but it is good to have a challenge and you can layer just about anything!

to me it looks like she standing with her weight mostly on one leg, doing an egyptian camel (reverse undulation) and layering a simple shimmy on top. the weight on one leg bit makes the shimmy look a little twisty. nice!

Well - after I've watched this about a hundred times I might be able to works it out- at the moment it looked like a twist with the R hip at the front with reverse cameling back to the end of the twist with sharp pops layered into the next two camels and a shimmy on the support leg for the last one- thinks - must try that and see if it look (anything like) the same -

I love this clip. It's one of the ones I had my students watch last session when we were studying beledi progressions.

Awesome combination! I dont think I have seen that one done before, my muscle memory struggled with this one :)

There's some nice moves and some that look like she make be doing her lower back mischief and I can't forgive her her arm postions from1.51-58!..g.:

To point out she's over working the music and inappropriately dressed for a baladi progression?

I quite liked it, but I think it would have taken a more experienced dancer to carry it off with a nice relaxed beledi quality. She is certainly very able technically, but she looked a little freaked at points (and I didn't like those "don't shoot!" arms much in a beledi piece). I actually suspect that is a choreography not an improv, though I could be entirely mistaken. It has a "well learned" quality to it.

We watched many different degrees of "beledi." This was one of them. And it made many things clear to my students.
