Thread: OMG I haven't danced publically in 4 MONTHS!!!!!

Ive been practicing everday, and still taking lessons, obsessing over youtbes, etc. but I got kinda burned out after the last Baladina show. That, along with not having money for workshops, and finishing my masters degree I just realized I've been MIA!

Do people in Chicago even know who I am anymore?

My masters class will be over in early March, and not too far after that Im going to be dancing at the Bellies for Life event, and honestly, Im getting nervous, like I've lost "it". Someone please tell me its like riding a bike...

As long as you've been practicing (or doing something) over those 4 months, you'll be fine. Plus, it will all come back to you. You'll be fine!!

It'll probably be awesome. You'll get a rush from taking that break and probably kill it on your first go round.

You just have school on the brain. And you will do fine. Life doesn get in the way of dance with me all the time(retail sucks by the way). Finally tomorrow I can take a workshop and I don't have to miss it because of work. I feel you. You'll do fine.

Of course we still know who you are, you ditz!!! ,r:; Just say the word, and we're ready to put you to work whenever you're ready to come back!! I've got a Shimmy for the Cure coming up (hopefully) the end of May. You could get rid of the training wheels on that one, too, if you want to. Just say the word!

wipes eyes, so...wheres the cure at? Hmmm Im looking at my may calendar and bellydance on bourbon street is sat the 24th and the NRDC student showcase is sat the 31st, so it looks like Im busy at the end of may :(

We usually shoot for the Sunday before Memorial Day, which would be the
25th. And it'll be somewhere in the western burbs - it was Elgin last year - in Christina's back yard practically. So I'll try to make it to Bourbon Street if you try to make it to Shimmy. Watcha say??

Tommy is incommunicado. Ive attempted to contact him MANY times, no response. :( I need to find a new venue.

Speaking of ditzy, yesterday I tried to start my car with the tv remote. Ok , give me a break, Im juggling 1001 things right now.....l;, ,r:;

it's okay sumaya, I recently decided to take 10 months off fom dancing! However, after my private lesson with Aziza, she said some very profound things to me, so I may come out of my hiatus a little sooner. But taking a break is not all tha bad. And of course...we miss you!!!

As far as I know I'll be dancing at the next Shimmy for the Cure, and if I could share the stage with my bestest habibi, it would make it the perfect event! Something tells me you're going to rock our socks as soon as you *do* get out there.

Not to hijack the thread, but this is the best news I've heard since...well, since you told me you were semi-retiring from performing back in November. If you do emerge early, be sure to let me know when so I can grab a front row seat. Watching you dance brings me so much joy.

I've been on a hiatus as well, so I understand your fear Sumaya.

It'll be fine. It will be "like the first time" for a short while, then you'll remember all over again.
