home studio- decoration
i'm organising a small home studio in my new house (16m2) for my private practice and teaching private classes from...
now, i'm starting to choose colours??? anyone want to chime in (please with pictures...) what colour(s) should i paint the walls in.
there are two long walls/ one has a chimney, the other side has two windows.
there are two shorter walls, one will be ALL mirror accept for the top 20cm or something, the other has the door in it. i'll have curtains installed infront of the mirror.
the floor i'm not sure yet, will either be fake wood, or a ballet floor. dont know the colour yet.
so, do i go white walls, crazy walls?
right now i'm thinking i want two walls in "wine", and two or one wall in teal!
my favourite costume colours ;-)

Re: home studio- decoration
I did a ragging treatment on my studio walls that makes them look kind of aged and weathered. I did a base coat of fairly bright gold, and then hand ragged over it with a bronze glaze. It took two whole days to just do the ragging (floor to ceiling in an 18 x 20 room), but I love the effect.

cool idea; but i'm going to have plenty of framed pictures up i think, on the one wall, so i think a plain wall would be better... no patterns in the paint? otherwise it'll look kinda busy?

If you go with colors that are too dark or deeply hued, it will make the space seem much smaller (something important to consider when you are working with a relatively small room to begin with). Plus you might find that you will need to provide more lighting than you'd originally intended to counterbalance the amount of available working light that the darker colors will seem to absorb.

What about an off-white with stenciled Arabesque designs in the colors you mentioned?

my last two studios I painted the same color - kind of the color of a weathered brick or old terra cotta pot. it seems the perfect color for me! goes great with my earthy moroccan blankets *and* neon indian saris.
