I was gonna vote for Reyhan but Artemisia beat me to it. Can I also vote for Maria in Greece. Could that be considered European for this thread? I know it is Medateranian but I'm sure it could be allowed this one time.

hey-hey, what about the other Hungarians? There are so many good ones, but my two favourites are Sefirah and Mercedes Nieto.
(they're so lucky they can just hop on over to Egypt, several times a year to study. But they do take it very seriously and work very hard.)

I vote for Heather Burby, from Luton, England - my teacher and an absolute dance inspiration :) Also, for the based in Europe list can I add the wonderful Khaled Mahmoud!!

Most dancers "to know" that I know are from Germany, and there's quite a bunch of them.

I will throw in a few names I picked up on the French forums of people who are particularly popular there:

MEISSOUN

Remarkably "young" dancers of Eastern Europe are Shaba of Hungary and Shereen of Czech Republic.
In Germany we have also Naheda and Salma and also Mayyadah who should be noted.
And certainly I enjoy Maria Aya's dancing very much. There is also a promissing young dancer of Greece called Lia Verra (do not know if Greece however living there).

I am sure there are many more - any information about dancers of Poland?

and what about Afra al Kahira? I saw her dance at last year's Raqs B and thought she was lovely - her wings number on the Friday night was so moving.

Down here in the south I saw some promising younger dancers at the last Saqarah evening in London - Helen, Varisha and Rachel. I'm not sure but I think a couple of them have trained with a teacher in Reading and I am sure someone said that they are on Hossam Ramzy's course as well. They aren't stars yet but I think they may well be in the future.
